Editing The Mac Hosts File

hosts — host name data base

DESCRIPTION
The hosts file contains information regarding the known hosts on the network. For each host a single line should be present with the following information:

FILES
/etc/hosts

Editing the hosts file in your favorite – available macOS Text editor
sudo open -a TextEdit /etc/hosts
sudo open -a BBEdit /etc/hosts

This is a retail macOS Catalina’s Host file (prior to custom editing)

# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
##
127.0.0.1 localhost
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
::1 localhost
